Now that Windows 8 is here we're going to see more convertible computers like the Sony Vaio Duo 11, reviewed below. We're talking about an 11.6 inch slider with a screen that covers the crammed keyboard in tablet mode. The display is a gorgeous Full HD one, touch enabled, but the overall size of the Sony Hybrid will make it feel uncomfortable to use as a tablet and laptop.

Why? Because of the size and weight it's going to be heavy to hold in hand as a tablet, while the crammed keyboard and the lack of touchpad (replaced with a touchpoint), the Sony Vaio Duo 11 is not an excellent laptop either, especially since you can't adjust the screen inclination.

The hardware configuration inside this convertible computer is pretty high end, with Core i7, 8 GB RAM and a 256 GB SSD being the top options, but price quicky becomes an issue, as the cheaper Core i3 config starts at $1100. Battery life is well below 4 hours, but you can excend that with a pricey $150 sheet battery, which will also increase weight.

Sony Vaio Duo 11 is a tough sell if you can't see past the limitation of putting two completely different gadgets in the same body. We like the design and quality of the construction, but it's far from the perfect convertible. At least it's fast, very fast.
