In this AutoCAD 2027 tutorial for beginners, you’ll learn how to use the Rotate Command to turn objects around a base point with accurate angles.
This lesson explains object selection, base point, rotation angle, positive and negative rotation, correct base point selection, and common beginner mistakes in AutoCAD.

Welcome back to Cadelyx — AutoCAD 2027 Made Simple.

In the previous video, we learned the Copy Command in AutoCAD 2027 and understood how to duplicate objects using selection, base point, destination point, exact distance, and Ortho Mode. In this lesson, we will learn another important editing command: the Rotate Command.

The Rotate Command is used to turn objects around a base point in AutoCAD. If you have a chair, table, door, symbol, block, line, rectangle, mechanical part, or layout object facing the wrong direction, you can rotate it instead of redrawing it.

In this beginner-friendly AutoCAD tutorial, you will learn how to start the Rotate Command from the Ribbon, how to start it by typing RO, how to select objects, how to press Enter after selection, how to choose the correct base point, and how to rotate objects freely or with exact angles.

In this video, you will learn:

What the AutoCAD Rotate Command is
How to start Rotate from the Home tab and Modify panel
How to start Rotate by typing RO and pressing Enter
How to select objects before rotating
Why you must press Enter after selecting objects
What a base point means in Rotate Command
How to rotate an object freely
How to rotate an object with an exact angle
How positive and negative rotation works
How to rotate clockwise and counterclockwise
Why the correct base point is important
Why Rotate does not create a copy by default
Where Rotate is used in real AutoCAD drawings
Common beginner mistakes with Rotate Command

This video is perfect for complete beginners who are learning AutoCAD 2027 step by step. If you want to create floor plans, architectural drawings, mechanical drawings, civil drawings, interior layouts, construction drawings, furniture layouts, or professional 2D drafting projects, the Rotate Command is one of the most useful modify tools to understand.

The most important beginner lesson from this video is simple: the base point controls where the object rotates from. If the base point is wrong, the rotation will look wrong. For example, if you want a door to rotate like a real door, choose the hinge point as the base point.

You will also learn how to rotate objects accurately by typing exact angles like 45, 90, 180, or -90. Positive angles usually rotate counterclockwise, and negative angles usually rotate clockwise.

This video is part of the complete AutoCAD 2027 Full Course for Beginners on Cadelyx. The goal of this course is to make AutoCAD simple, practical, and easy to understand for students, engineers, architects, interior designers, civil drafting learners, mechanical drafting learners, construction professionals, freelancers, and anyone who wants to learn AutoCAD from zero.

In the next video, we will learn the Mirror Command. The Mirror Command helps us create a flipped copy of an object, which is very useful when drawing symmetrical objects.
