What Is An "Experience Book"?
In this video, we’ll watch Penny and her mum looking at Penny’s experience book. This is a book that her mother has made of photographs of Penny on outings, playing and completing, her daily routines.
Looking at photos is a great way to teach past tense words, such as "went" and "splashed". Penny’s mum models sentences to describe what is happening in the pictures. She highlights past tense words by putting emphasis on these in her speech. An experience book allows your child to practice listening to and talking about experiences and stories using new vocabulary or sentence structures.
