SPS Technology's SPS Stadia + Arenas decking system was specified for the comprehensive renovation of Abilene Christian University's historic Moody Coliseum. This multi-purpose indoor arena, originally constructed in 1968, maintains a current seating capacity of 4,600 and serves as the home venue for ACU Wildcats basketball and volleyball programs, while also accommodating graduations, chapel services, and concert events.
The prefabricated SPS Stadia + Arenas System unique Overbuild solution was selected to re-profile the existing concrete arena structure, delivering both facility transformation and significant cost and schedule efficiencies compared to conventional reconstruction methods. This regeneration project achieved enhanced sightline geometry and modernized spectator experience standards consistent with contemporary venue design.
This video documents the partial installation phase of the joint seal application between individual SPS terraces, executed by our construction partners Freedom Enterprise Inc (FEI). The engineered joint seal system provides critical barrier protection against water infiltration and environmental contaminant penetration, while delivering long-term structural integrity under sustained pedestrian loading conditions.
