WHALE RESCUE. Dolphin rescue on the beach. How people rescued a whale stranded on the beach.
While strolling along the beach one morning, people noticed some strange dolphin behavior in the distance and began observing the pod. Much to their surprise, the pod, which had recently been in the middle of the bay, appeared on the shore within minutes at the feet of the surprised vacationers—that's how these dolphins ended up on the beach. Of course, the people didn't just stand by and immediately began rescuing the dolphins, dragging them back into the ocean. The most observant will notice that the dolphins that managed to avoid ending up on the beach with the main group continued to swim ashore while in their natural habitat. This behavior in marine animals is often caused by human activity; echolocation and other underwater wireless communication devices interfere with the normal functioning of marine animals' senses.
This incredible animal rescue story took place in Rio de Janeiro. People found the motionless body of a 14-meter-long humpback whale, but upon approaching, they noticed an awkward movement of its fin. The whale was so exhausted that it appeared dead. Within hours, hundreds of concerned people had gathered around the giant whale, ready to save it. They poured water on its body to keep it hydrated, while excavators rushed to the rescue, digging a channel into the ocean.
After 23 hours, word of the rescue of the stranded whale spread throughout the area, and the cliffs and road above the beach were occupied by onlookers anticipating the moment of rescue. Crowds of people were deliberately kept at a distance to maximize the effectiveness of the rescue mission. Once the excavators had dug a path to the sea, the whale was secured with ropes and towed out to sea. At the end of the year, humpback whales traditionally migrate from the coast of southern Brazil to Antarctica. It appears this 14-meter-long juvenile had become separated from its pod.
While trying to find a way out, the dolphin became entangled in coastal seaweed. It was unknown how long it remained there, but a man boating with his family noticed it and immediately began rescuing the dolphin. He tied a rope around his waist for safety and began rescuing the drying dolphin. At first, the dolphin reacted nervously to its rescuer, but when it realized they were trying to help it, it stopped resisting and, with awkward movements, managed to free itself.
