Ready to install SIMATIC STEP 7 on your PC? 💻
In this video, I walked you through the full process of installing, activating, and running STEP 7 V5.x — one of the most important Siemens software tools for programming classic PLCs like the S7-300. ⚙️
Here’s what we covered step by step 👇
🔹 Preparation – Before starting the setup, disable your antivirus to prevent installation issues.
🔹 Extraction & Setup – Download the package from the website, extract the files, and start the installer as Administrator.
🔹 Installation Process – Select SIMATIC STEP 7 V5.6 (or 5.7) and install with the default options. You can deselect extra languages to save time.
🔹 Activation (License Setup) – After installation, copy the license/crack files into your local disk C:\ directory and overwrite the existing ones. Run the patch as Administrator — this step activates your STEP 7 automatically. ✅
🔹 Running the Software – Once installed, open SIMATIC Manager. You can create a new project, add a S7-300 station, and start programming instantly.
🔹 Testing and Simulation – I demonstrated a simple program using ladder logic: turning on M200.0 when M100.0 is active, plus adding an ON delay timer (S5T#10s) to test how it behaves in runtime.
💡 Pro Tip:
STEP 7 works perfectly alongside TIA Portal and WinCC Explorer, so you can have all of them on the same Windows machine without conflict.
🚀 Result:
The installation ran smoothly, the license activated correctly, and we even tested a small logic block — everything worked like a charm!
👉 Have you ever installed STEP 7 before, or are you switching from TIA Portal?
