Did you know that the cookies you eat today aren't real Oreos? The original cookies ceased to exist in 1999. Here's why: two brothers, Jacob and Joseph, owned a large bakery. One day, they had a falling out. Joseph wanted to expand the business through a partnership, but Jacob was against it. So Jacob decided to leave the business and start his own business. While Joseph was growing the bakery, Jacob created a cookie called Hydrox with a cream center. This cookie became incredibly popular and made Joseph rich. In response to the success of Hydrox, Joseph launched a similar cookie called Oreo. However, the Hydrox name became associated with chemical products like cleaning products, causing its popularity to decline. Eventually, Oreo took over the market, and many people began to think Hydrox were Oreo knockoffs.
