Last year we started to use GitLab. We wanted a good way to manage our teams and services, and of course we want to automate everything. So we started to manage our cloud infrastructure with Terraform. While doing this, we had an idea: let's manage our GitLab setup via Terraform and combine both worlds to a single repository and source of truth. We tried it and it's stunning how awesome it is! We manage every group (team) with it and provide everywhere all variables and configuration we need to develop and deploy our applications, without a single manual step. Okay, nearly without a single step, we only have to modify our Terraform configuration. I want to share how we did it and everything you need to know to do it yourself.
