In December of 2010 I lost my father, my hero, and my friend when he past away after a short but fierce battle with the disease they call ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). To me it was the most painful time in my life to see him suffer and at the same time still take care of his family. For a strong man in mind and body to have his body taken away and his mind stay strong is heart breaking. Col. Mike Archibald was a brave, strong, ethical, intelligent father, husband, grandfather, friend and solider who was taken from us way to early. He fought for our freedoms in the amy and served and protected as peace officer. He never gave up the battle to make lives better for people and in turn would want us all to fight to make lives better for those with ALS. I walk to show pride and love for my DAD!!

Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.

This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease though support is bringing researchers closer to an answer. In the mean time it costs an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
