In his ongoing pursuit for perfection, my friend, Jono Ashley, decided that his Del Mar overdrive needed a revision/makeover. But he strayed so far from the original design that a new pedal was born: Breakers OD. Breakers derives its name not from the Bluesbreaker, but from the waves that break on the shore of Jono's home, Bondi (Australia). Breakers OD retains the signatory clean-to-gain Gain control that the Sick As also shares but it's a smoother and less aggressive affair than its light-blue brother. Two drive options are on tap: 1. high headroom with less mid focus and, 2. more mid focus with compression. Both will be welcome to most. I'd use the down position (high headroom) on stage, and the up position off stage. Internal voltage doubling to 18V (more headroom, volume, dynamics...) and 15dB cut and boost treble and bass controls complete the picture. There is little that the Breakers won't do. Check one out.
