A guide on how to remove Protected View in Excel. For some people, notifications related to Protected View, whether stating "The file originated from an untrusted location and might be unsafe," or "Office has detected a problem with this file. Editing it may harm your computer," are annoying, even though this feature was created to protect users from viruses.

However, recently, many people have become dependent on this feature, leading them to search for information on how to unlock Protected View in Excel.

The method for removing Protected View in Excel 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, and Excel 365 is actually the same. In general, there are two ways to remove Protected View in Excel: one is instant but not permanent, and the other is permanent, but requires some tweaking in the settings menu.

Step 1: Open the File menu, select Options, select Trust Center, select Trust Center Settings, and select Protected View.
Step 2: Uncheck the three boxes below to enable the removal of protected view in Excel.

Enable protected view for files originating from the internet
Enable protected view for files located in potentially unsafe locations
Enable protected view for Outlook attachments
Step 3: Finally, click OK
