People close to me know: I am very demanding of myself, and I rarely praise myself... sounds familiar? 🙃
Only now am I beginning to learn how to do this. I’m 28. For the first time, it feels so wonderful — at 28, to realize that I have become a member of the Grammy Academy, that I have the opportunity to submit tracks for the award, which I previously only watched online, nervously biting my lips in anticipation!
I am extremely grateful to my ancestors, thousands, hundreds of thousands of great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers, who lived and survived so that today I have the opportunity to do my work; grateful to the team with whom we are on this journey together, in the same car — and this car is gaining power every day. The team are those who work to make sure my music is heard, so that includes all of you who are reading this right now! You make my tracks loud! In every sense ❤️🔥
And today, I’m ready to thank myself! For loving music so much, for running to music school like it was home when I felt lonely. For being the source that always finds its way 🌊
I’ll save a good speech — just in case it comes in handy 😉
