IBM’s acquisition of Red Hat was the biggest tech acquisition ever at $34B
IBM hasn’t stopped with that
They’ve continued acquiring smaller startups
The goal is to make Openshift the best hybrid cloud management platform
Previously, IBM acquired Instana, Nordcloud, and Spanugo
Now, IBM has acquired StackRox, a Kubernetes-native security startup
Stackrox is the creator of KubeLinter, a popular open source tool
KubeLinter checks YAML files & Helm charts against security best practices
StackRox puts a focus on shifting security left
This means building security in right from the start of the CI/CD pipeline
Along the way, StackRox also includes features to spot vulnerabilities that are introduced
Its runtime security scanning proactively looks for breaches and surfaces them in real-time
IBM will be integrating StackRox into Openshift
They will support KubeLinter while also making other StackRox technology open source
IBM is making heads turn in their quest for hybrid cloud supremacy
