In this video I show you how to create a simple game engine in vanilla Javascript. The game engine is used to run a basic animation of a bouncing square.
I teach computer science, programming and game design to high school students. I have been doing this for almost 20 years. In my opinion, Javascript is a GREAT first language for high school students and beginning programmers. With HTML5 canvas, you can easily create animations and games. This video will get you started making games.
I also teach AP Computer Science Principles (AP CSP). I recommend that teachers use Javascript to teach their students programming in a fun and engaging way. Please feel free to use my videos on this channel to help your students engage with computer science.
