Teachers and School Governors have raised concerns about the breakdown of discipline and the growing shortage of teachers in the classroom.
In some schools the problems have been aggravated because of the extra children no staying on in school as a result of the raising of the school leaving age last year from 15 to 16.
Many teachers and pupils feel that this decision should be reversed. Peter Taylor speaks to those students who are unhappy that they are being forced to stay on – many of which feel it’s a waste of time.
