3ds Max Mental Ray Visibility Fade Bug

I use the technique of fading objects and groups of objects alot in my animations, and find this particular problem, or bug, quite annoying. The basic problem exists not only for objects touching/co-planar, but objects which are several units away. I don't think it's material related, though I haven't tested too much.

3ds max 2011, Mental Ray, Arch & Design material
Object 'visibility' (in Properties panel) animated to fade the object(s) in and out. All objects in the scene have A&D materials, with very basic MR settings (no FG, NO GI)
