Nausea and vomiting have various causes: motion sickness, viral gastroenteritis, food poisoning, certain medications, etc. Essential oils can help relieve them. Advice from Dr. Laure Martinat, naturopath.

** Essential Oils for Inhalation **

The first step to relieve your nausea and vomiting is to turn to antiemetic essential oils, meaning they work against nausea and vomiting. For this, you can rely on ginger, lemon, or peppermint essential oils, which are very effective. Inhale the aromas directly from the bottle or pour a drop onto a tissue.
Breathe deeply, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth at least 4 or 5 times. You can repeat this inhalation as many times as necessary throughout the day.

Precautions for use: Lemon and ginger essential oils can be used by everyone, including adults, children, pregnant, and breastfeeding women.

Peppermint EO inhalation should not be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women, or children under the age of 7. In all cases, follow medical advice in cases of asthma.

** Oral Essential Oils **

If nausea and vomiting are severe, add a drop of ginger, lemon, or peppermint EO to a neutral tablet or a teaspoon of honey, and take orally if possible.

Precautions for use:
For peppermint: Reserved for adults and adolescents, excluding pregnant or breastfeeding women. Contraindicated in cases of epilepsy, a history of hormone-dependent cancer, or liver disease.
For lemon: Can be used by adults, children, adolescents, and pregnant women after 3 months. Do not expose to UV rays within 8 hours. For ginger: For adults only, except for pregnant and breastfeeding women, and for children aged 7 and over. Consult a doctor for asthma. Do not use if taking anticoagulant treatment.

** Acupuncture Point **

Additionally, you can use an acupuncture point also used in acupressure, which is very effective for relieving nausea and vomiting: stimulate point P6, called "Nei Guan," which is the reference point for the treatment of nausea and vomiting in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

It is located on the inner side of the forearms, three finger widths from the wrist flexion crease between the two tendons. Apply manual pressure with your thumb, maintaining it for 2 minutes, then releasing it and repeating.

!!! Of course, if symptoms persist or if signs of severity appear, you should consult your doctor urgently.!!!
