Mach2 Crash - MD21 & D21
A 60's-era formerly classified film-to video of the crash of an M21 (Mother) and D21 (Daughter) system. The M21 was a modified A12 spyplane that had a rear launch control station added. Another A12 flying chase did the filming as nothing else was fast enough to keep up. Launch officer starts D21 ramjet engine, M21 pushes over into shallow dive, "tosses" the D21 up off pylon. D21 would fly off on automated spy mission. This one did not ignite and crashed back onto the M21 destroying both.
