But first of all, I needed to take a new approach to working with patients.
So I decided to rely entirely on what they themselves said, without any preconceived notions—that is, to surrender to chance.
Our interactions now boiled down to this: patients spontaneously told me about their dreams and fantasies, and I simply asked them questions:
"What do you remember about this?" or "How do you understand this? Where did it come from?"
