1. Earth is the third planet from the sun and the largest of the terrestrial planets.
2. Planet Earth is the only one known so far to harbor life; it is covered by 71% water, a unique characteristic compared to other planets in our solar system, and this is good news for us since water is fundamental to life.
3. Earth has a magnetic field strong enough to protect it from dangerous solar winds. Its atmosphere is composed mainly of nitrogen and oxygen, which is rare compared to other planets, and this atmosphere is what protects us from dangerous radiation from space.
4. The Earth rotates on its own axis, in a movement known as rotation, which creates day and night. The seasons, however, are the result of another movement of the Earth, its revolution around the sun.
