5 BASIC TIPS FOR ADOBE PREMIERE PRO
In this Adobe Premiere Pro CC Tutorial, I will be sharing 5 basic video editing tips to make editing a little easier, especially if you are just starting out! These tips can usually make or break your videos.
1. Cropping and Cutting your footage- using the razor tool is beneficial and more precise than using cropping the video over and over again. If wanting to cut/crop either just the video or audio track, (on macs) press option on the keyboard, right-click on the track that you want to crop or edit, use the razor tool, and press delete.
2. Color correction- color correction can make your video a higher quality. Using Lumetri Scopes helps balance the color for your footage. You can use basic correction, or use the creative tab in Lumetri Colors with preset settings to make your color correction process a little bit faster. You can alter it from there!
3. Speed/Duration- Do you have a time-lapse video or is a video too fast/slow? Slowing down or speeding up a video can crop some time for your video and make your footage have a spark to It. On a mac, pressing control and right-clicking on the footage you would like to edit, creates a drop-down menu. Scroll to Speed/Duration option and adjust the time or speed that you would like the video to go to. If you want the video to go slower, increase the time. If you want the video to go faster, decrease the time. If you want a video to go backward, press the reverse speed option.
4. Stabilizing shakiness- ever have a shaky video, but have good footage? Luckily, there is an option in adobe premiere pro if you go to the Effects tab in the lower-left corner panel, type in the search bar "warp". An option of warp stabilizer will come up and drag to the footage you would like to stabilize. If wanting to just stabilize the video in smooth or no motion, go to the upper left corner panel to the "effects control" tab to alter the effects of the stabilization and track how long It will take to stabilize that specific video track.
5. Text Keyframes- Wanting to move your text across the screen or making it bigger? Go the Text tool and click somewhere on the screen. Once again, on the upper left corner panel, there is a tab with "effect controls" for text. You will see a text bar. Press the arrow all the way on the left side of the bar to alter the effects of the text. There are options such as position, scale, rotation, etc. Next to all of those options, there is a stopwatch symbol. If you want a smooth flow across the page, click the stopwatch at the beginning of the video and drag the other keyframe to the end of the video or with a substantial amount of room between the two keyframes. If you want a quick flash of text, the keyframes can be placed with little space apart from one another.
