DC Comics: The Visual History | Golden Age Overview
Recently, the Milenio publishing group brought us a special edition from DORLING KINDERSLEY, compiling 75 years of DC Comics history.
This book isn't a simple summary of the history of the largest and longest-running comic book publisher in the United States: it's a month-by-month chronicle, showcasing the major (and minor) publications and events from DC Comics' 75-year history. It covers the events of the Golden Age of Comics (1938-1955), the Silver Age (1956-1969), and the Bronze Age (1970-1979), and delves fully into the Modern Age (1980-present). It's a round trip from Earth-2 to Earth-1 and the Antimatter Universe that provides a comprehensive account of the people and circumstances that have shaped the DC Universe.
DC Comics Year by Year also includes titles from other publishers that eventually became part of the DC family: from All Star Comics in the 1940s, through the first appearance of Captain Marvel in Whiz Comics #2 (February 1940), to the greatest moments of the WildStorm imprint, founded in 1999. The articles are illustrated and complemented by a chronology of world events, allowing DC's 75-year evolution to be shown in its historical context.
