Artificially Inclusive: AI's Race Problem
Artificial Intelligence continues to become a larger part of our society each day. From facial recognition, to rideshares, to digital influencers, AI has worked its way into every part of our lives. However, AI is more beneficial to some people than others. AI software overwhelmingly favors and recognizes white males. People of color have been affected by companies like Apple, Microsoft, and Uber because of flaws with their AI systems. As digital models reshape the influencer marketing and modeling industries, will it push more poc models out of their jobs? Hopefully, AI will be reshaped in the near future so that everyone equally can use it to improve their lives, and not be hurt or excluded by technology intended to help us.
