In 2017, the Supreme Court of India had declared the right to privacy as a fundamental right of every Indian citizen. While that was a landmark judgement for the country and a step towards actually securing our lives, the government created a committee headed by the Ministry of electronics and IT to work on a proper data protection framework for our country. Because of suspicion surrounding the way the committee functions, the Internet Freedom Foundation came together to draft the Indian Privacy Code to ensure every Indian’s right to complete and absolute privacy.
