'Bela Le Ri Doodh Ka' is a dance song sung by peasant women in Haryana especially during the nights of Fagun to celebrate the festival of Holi. Songs sung during this season are full of laughter and pleasure primarily. These songs are full of the subversive potential also wherein the young women, who remain submissive and subordinated throughout the year under the patriarchal set up, come out with their resentment against their oppressive conjugal kin and dare to mock at various patriarchal norms and practices.
