It DOES get better. So many times in the thick of my postpartum period and in my second baby’s first year I wondered “will this ever get easier?” I loved them immeasurably but I constantly felt like I was drowning and felt like I had lost sight of who I was as a person.
18 months in and life looks a lot different. Of course there are still tough days when Juniper is teething and wants to be held all day or Rowan is having big feelings and doesn’t know how to work through them, but there’s so much more peace now.
I get a full night of sleep pretty much every night. My husband makes me coffee in the morning and I drink it while I listen to their sweet giggles coming from the play room. I’m not on a 3-hour nursing clock anymore and we can go out and about without stressing so much over wake windows and overtiredness.
If you’re in the thick of it with a baby or toddler, I just want to give you a big virtual hug and promise you that it does get easier. You’re doing a great job.
