The Raspberry Pi is a great way to host WordPress without spending too much on expensive server hardware. If you want to use it publicly, the setup will be powerful enough to handle a few visitors. It also makes for the perfect home development server.
You will have a LAMP stack setup by the end of the tutorial. A LAMP stack consists of Linux (Raspberry Pi OS), Apache, MariaDB, and PHP. These are all vital components for running WordPress without issue.
I recommend running a Raspberry Pi 5 with as much RAM as possible, as the database performs better with more RAM. I also recommend using the latest version of Raspberry Pi OS as it has the most up-to-date software and security patches.
Using something like Cloudflare Tunnel or Tailscale, you can have a secure way to access WordPress. Alternatively, you can set up port forwarding on your router.
