On July 31, 2022, Mackenzie Shirilla, then 17, was driving a Toyota Camry with her boyfriend, Dominic Russo (20), and friend, Davion Flanagan (19), in Strongsville, Ohio.
Evidence, including surveillance and crash data, showed her accelerating to about 100 mph and deliberately crashing into a brick warehouse building, without braking
All three occupants had THC in their system from marijuana use prior to the crash.
Russo and Flanagan were killed instantly; Shirilla survived and was hospitalized.
