Final Cut Fast - Titles and Generators Sidebar
Final Cut Pro comes with multiple preinstalled titles and generators. They are located in the Titles and Generators sidebar. Once a title or generator has been added, you can modify select styles and properties in the inspector.
To add a title or generator:
1. Place the playhead in the timeline at the location that you want to add the title/generator.
2. Open the Titles and Generators sidebar by:
clicking on the Titles and Generators button

Window - Go To - Titles and Generators
Or…
Press Command-Option 1.
You can browse all of the titles by clicking on “Titles” and all of the generators by clicking on “Generators.” When you click on either one, all of the titles or generators will appear in the browser.
You can browse categories of titles or generators by clicking on the disclosure triangle next to the name. Then click on the category of titles/generators that you want to view.
To add a title to the timeline:
1. Double-click on the title. When you do this, the title is added at the playhead location.

2. Edit - Connect Title - Basic Title
Or…
3. Press Control-T.
Or…
4. Click the Connect icon

5. With the title selected, press Q.
Generators are used primarily as a background clip. But they can also be used as placeholders, as shapes and more. You can add them to the timeline by dragging and dropping or using the other ways that you would connect a clip.
Titles and generators that are native to Final Cut Pro were created in Apple Motion. Parameters available to adjust in the inspector depend on which title or generator that you have selected and what was published as a parameter in Motion. If you can’t adjust what you want in Final Cut Pro, you can control-click on the title or generator in the browser - Open a Copy In Motion. You can make adjustments in Motion, or publish new parameters, and save it to be used in Final Cut Pro.
