PALU, KOMPAS.TV - A religious teacher at an illegal Islamic boarding school (pesantren) was arrested on charges of raping a female student. According to the victim's report, the perpetrator committed immoral acts seven times on the school grounds.
The illegal Islamic boarding school in Ulujadi Village, Palu City, is where the religious teacher allegedly committed immoral acts against his students. According to the police report, the acts occurred seven times since February 2023.
The Head of the Palu Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Ferdinan Numbery, stated that the Islamic boarding school was illegal because it lacked a permit. Seven female students, including the victim, were taught at the school.
When questioned, the suspect, identified as AA, denied the crime. For the purposes of the investigation, the religious teacher has been named a suspect and is being questioned.
The perpetrator will be charged under Article 81 of the Child Protection Law, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
