Starting a new project is the best feeling, but doing it on a completely fresh Linux install? Even better.

In today’s vlog, I’m taking my secondary laptop—which has been sitting "pure" with a fresh Linux install—and turning it into a lean, mean, web development machine. My mission is to build a minimal setup for a new AI-powered web application without bloating the system with unnecessary apps.

I’ll be walking you through my choice of tools, from my terminal backbone to a surprising Docker alternative that works perfectly on Fedora. I also dive into my thoughts on using Claude to kickstart the frontend and how AI is changing my development workflow in 2026.

The Minimalist Toolstack:
Terminal: Warp (The best modern terminal experience)

IDE: PHPStorm (The powerhouse for Laravel)

Database: JetBrains DB Client

Containers: Podman (A lightweight, open-source alternative to Docker Desktop)

API Testing: HTTPie (Minimal & lightweight)

AI Integration: Claude (Setting up via NPM for a streamlined workflow)
