Hundred Seventy Split - Where The Blues Began
'Hundred Seventy Split' is a new, exciting, high energy Blues/Rock
power trio showcasing the combined talents of Joe Gooch on
guitar/vocals and Leo Lyons on bass: both were members
of the band "Ten Years After'.
The pair initially formed a song-writing partnership to write for TYA
and have continued writing together ever since. The result is their
debut mini CD 'Special Edition'
'Hundred Seventy Split' was formed to play music that rocks outside
of the TYA box.
About this new project, Leo Lyons says: "Alongside my continuing involvement with Ten Years After, I was asked to do a Leo Lyons solo record but, as I'm not really a solo person, I decided to make a record with guest musicians on it. I asked Joe Gooch if he'd like to write some songs with me for the record and perhaps play on a few of the tracks.
We made a start and somewhere down the line the direction changed and the record became a project for the two of us.
For 'Hundred Seventy Split' I wanted to capture the energy of a live show so we played live in the studio with no more than three takes per song and with very few overdubs.
We'll be playing some 'Hundred Seventy Split' gigs, to coincide with the release of our CD 'The World Won't Stop', in between our busy TYA schedule. Important to point out that we will not be playing any TYA songs: to hear those you would have to come to a TYA gig and see us when we play with Ric and Chick.
