In today's video, I'm going to teach you how to migrate to WordPress.org from WordPress.com—an easy-to-follow tutorial designed specifically for beginners. This process might seem daunting at first, but with a bit of guidance, you'll find it straightforward and manageable.

To begin, navigate to your WordPress.com dashboard. This is where everything on your current site is managed. Once you're there, look for the 'Tools' option on the sidebar. Clicking on 'Tools' will reveal several functions, but what we're interested in is the 'Export' button. By selecting 'Export', you are taking the first step in preparing your content for migration.

With the export section open, you'll see an option to export 'All content.' This is crucial because it includes all your posts, pages, comments, custom fields, and menus. Basically, everything you’ll need for a seamless transition. After selecting 'All content,' simply click on 'Download Export File.' This will generate a file containing all your site data, ensuring that nothing gets left behind during the move.

Now that you have your export file saved safely on your device, let's switch gears and head over to your WordPress.org dashboard. This is the platform that provides you with more control and flexibility, which makes it a popular choice for many website owners looking to expand their options.

Once you're logged into your WordPress.org dashboard, return to the sidebar and locate 'Tools' once more. Within 'Tools', we’ll choose 'Import'. This is where the magic happens by bringing your exported site content into your new WordPress.org environment.

In the import section, scroll until you find the WordPress label and notice the 'Install Now' button just below it. Click on this button to install the WordPress importer—a tool specifically designed to bring your content from one WordPress environment to another. After installation, the button will change to 'Run Importer'. Go ahead and click it, as it’ll open the import feature.

Now it's time to point to the export file you saved earlier. You’ll see an option to 'Choose File'. Click on this button and navigate your device’s storage to find the export file. Once selected, hit 'Upload file and import'.

Finally, you’ll reach the last stage of this transition. You should be prompted with the 'Submit' button. By clicking 'Submit', you are finalizing the import process that integrates your old WordPress.com content into your new WordPress.org site.

And that’s it! You’ve successfully migrated your site. Taking your WordPress journey from the .com platform to the .org version unlocks a new realm of possibilities for your online presence, offering more customization, plugins, and themes to play with as you grow your website. Thanks for following along with our tutorial, and happy blogging!
