This video describes about the OSPF in detail along with the OSPF Area , Routers and Multiple Area Communication.

OSPF ( Open Shortest Path First) communication using a single area will work good in the small network; however, if the network grows then there it will be difficult.

OSPF Router will learn the entire network information and generate LSDB (Link-State Database). Then the same database information will be available in all the routers even if it is not required.

In addition to the huge LSDB, large routing table will be maintained in every router.

As OSPF is link-state routing protocol when ever there is a changes in the network, the update will be shared. so in case of big network problems, all the router will take time to evaluate the update received.

However, using Multi area OSPF we can segment the network and only the summary of the route will be shared between the routers in different Areas.

Area 0 is commonly known as the backbone area where all the other areas will be connected to it. And the communication between 2 different area is done only through the backbone area or the Area 0.
