This series is to show how a magnetic stirrer can be made at home using some pretty simple spare components. The only piece I had to purchase was the flea (stirrer).
This video shows the fan and rotating magnet which go inside the assembly. The fan is a spare 120mm case fan that I had. The magnet came from an old IDE hard drive. It is simply superglued in place.
The first attempt used two magnets, but that didn't work so well.
