Chasing NS 145, Decatur, IL to Dawson, 4.12.17
I rode my bike for 9 miles today, and then decided it was still too nice to sit inside, so I went and got my oil changed, and drove around town. 398 came in off the west end, then 32Q followed as 145 departed. 29M was coming at it, so they met at Harristown, which is when I decided to go chase it. I originally was going to look for the 29M, but he was a LOT closer than I had anticipated, so I raced the 145. I got a big gain at Harristown as he accelerated out of the pass, and went through Illiopolis to let him gain on me. He is, after all, a 50mph train- tough to pace when the speed limit on the road is 55. Fortunately I caught up and had no traffic behind me, allowing me to pace him at 50mph for quite a ways. I raced ahead after Lanesville, and stayed ahead of him through Buffalo so I'd have a little time to get to my final spot, and it worked out well. He flew by, and I went home. Enjoyable spring day, and I'm all worn out and ready for bed at 7:30pm...
