The last video was the Jetix timeline. Now, let's look at the timeline of the channel that replaced it, Disney XD.
Originally, Disney XD launched on February 13, 2009, in the United States. Brazil and other Latin American countries premiered the channel on July 3, 2009, showing live-action series and original cartoons produced by Disney for Disney XD.
According to Gary Marsh, president of entertainment at Disney Channel Worldwide, "the letters XD don't mean anything," as some suggested it was internet slang for something cool or radical, but it simply means "Xtreme Digital" or "Xtra Dimension."
On August 2, 2016, the channel's signal began broadcasting in widescreen, a version similar to high definition for better sound and image quality. The widescreen signal premiered at 6:00 AM.
In 2018, the HD version began simulcasting its programming to the SD (standard) version.
