The Kernel for the new system is configured. Even though I re-use a config for this machine, it's always worth checking that the config is valid and to pull out anything that doesn't look like it's needed. After that I check that the kernel settings mentioned in the book are set to ensure correct operation with Gentoo.
Given the recent security concerns regarding Windows 11 Recall, and the apparent roll-back on what privacy issues it may or may not have now, what will it be like in the future?
I take back control of this Windows 11 machine by wiping the disk and installing Gentoo Linux in its place. I haven't installed Gentoo for a few years so this mid-2024, unscripted installation shows a few wrinkles with things that are new to me and how I deal with them as I encounter them.
