One of the prayers that he taught us, may God bless him and grant him peace, is the istikharah prayer.
How to perform Istikhara prayer.
It was mentioned in the noble hadith. The Istikharah prayer must perform two rak'ahs, excluding the obligatory prayer. That is, two sunnah rak'ahs.
After the tashahhud and before the salaam of prayer, you should recite the Istikharah supplication.
Istikharah prayer does not have a specific time. A Muslim can pray it at any time of the day, day or night.
How to pray the Istikharah supplication.
There are two ways to pray Istikhara. Either you pray and pray in prayer. Or you can pray without prayer.
These two narrations were reported from the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, in Sahih Al-Bukhari, once with prayer and once without prayer.
This is what the jurists said. Because there may be a sister who is menstruating and cannot pray. There may be another person on a trip and a phone comes to him, for example, and he wants to know what to do. They can only recite the Istikharah supplication without prayer.
Doaa istikhaarah.
Oh God, I ask you for advice with your knowledge. And I respect you by your ability. I ask you of your great grace. You have power, but I cannot. And you know and I don't know. You are the Knower of the unseen. Oh God, if you know that this is the case. He names the thing he wants. It is better for my religion, my livelihood, and my life’s outcome, both now and in the future. So decree it for me and make it easy for me. Then bless it for me. And if you know that this matter is bad for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the outcome of my affairs, both now and in the future. So take him away from me. And turn me away from him. And ordain for me what is good wherever it may be. Then he pleased me with it.
