🛠️ Types of Sensors – Contact vs. Non-Contact
🔹 Contact Type Sensors – These sensors need physical contact with the object to detect it.
🔹 Non-Contact Type Sensors – These detect objects without touching them!

⚡ Proximity sensors fall under the non-contact category, meaning they can sense objects from a distance.

Today, we’ll focus on Capacitive Proximity Sensors and how they work!

🔬 What is a Capacitive Proximity Sensor?
A Capacitive Proximity Sensor is a non-contact sensor that detects objects based on changes in capacitance.

📌 Key Features:
✅ Works on the capacitance principle ⚡
✅ Can detect both metals & non-metals 🔄
✅ Used in industries for automation & quality control 🏭

🏭 Where are Capacitive Proximity Sensors Used?
Capacitive sensors have wide applications in industries:

📌 Liquid Level Detection 🧴 – Used to check fluid levels inside bottles.
📌 Cap Presence Detection 🍾 – Ensures bottle caps are properly placed.
📌 Conveyor System Monitoring 📦 – Detects movement of boxes on conveyor belts.

⚡ Capacitive Proximity Sensors can detect:
✔️ Metals – Like bottle caps.
✔️ Non-Metals – Like cardboard boxes.
✔️ Liquids – Like fluids inside bottles.

🔩 Key Components of a Capacitive Proximity Sensor
A Capacitive Proximity Sensor consists of:

🔹 Housing – Protects internal components.
🔹 Terminal Wires – Connects the sensor to control systems.
🔹 Capacitive Plates – Creates an electric field.
🔹 Control Unit – The brain of the sensor.
🔹 Detection Circuit – Measures changes in capacitance.
🔹 Output Circuit – Sends signals based on object detection.

⚙️ How Does a Capacitive Proximity Sensor Work?
📌 Step 1: Electric Field Generation
🔹 The sensor has two conductive plates placed close but not touching.
🔹 When power is supplied, an electric field is created between them.

📌 Step 2: Object Detection
🔹 The Detection Circuit (Eyes of the Sensor) constantly monitors the electric field strength.
🔹 If no object is nearby, the field remains stable.
🔹 When an object enters the field, it disrupts the capacitance, triggering a response.

📌 Step 3: Output Signal Generation
🔹 The Output Circuit generates a signal based on the detected change.
🔹 This signal is then used to trigger actions, such as:
✅ Turning ON an indicator light 💡
✅ Sending a signal to PLC or relay systems 🔄

🔌 Sensor Connectivity – How Are They Wired?
📌 Capacitive Proximity Sensors have 3 or 4 wires:

🔹 4-Wire Sensors – Two for power supply, two for signal transmission.
🔹 3-Wire Sensors – Two for power, one for signal output.

👉 These wires connect the sensor to PLCs, relays, or automation systems, making them highly versatile!
