IKEA + Walmart In The Metaverse Is The Worst Idea Ever
People are excited about Walmart and Ikea entering the metaverse... Why? At it's best this is marketing ploy for press coverage and maybe a few online sales. At it's worse it seems like an ad and ecommerce targeting towards children. Walmart and it's discovered land in roblox "is able to sell physical goods directly to users inside Roblox." While IKEA's "'The Co-Worker Game' will allow players to experience working in IKEA's virtual universe." I get that some people are into sim games but the fact that it's these big companies behind it, and they will most likely have a very young age demographic playing these games, just feels wrong.
