Flaccid Dysarthria Prosody Exercise - Pitch Range Exercises
Obj: This exercise is best for patients who can distinguish pitch variations in the clinician’s voice. The purpose is to improve pitch variation and range.
1. Assess patient’s ability to perceive obvious pitch ranges in the clinician’s voice.
2. Have patient prolong an /a/ in the lowest pitch then highest pitch possible.
3. Once established, patient is asked to sing up and down this pitch range by dividing the range into about 8 individual notes.
4. Patient reads printed sentences that have arrows written above and below indicating the normal pitch changes for these words.
