Functional testing is a type of software testing that validates the software system against the functional requirements/specifications.
The purpose of Functional test is to test each and every functionality of the software application, by providing appropriate input, verifying the output against the Functional requirements.
Non Functional testing does not bother about the functionality whereas it focuses more on the Performance, reliability, scalability and other non-functional aspects of the software system.
In fact, Non functional tests will be performed ONLY if the functional tests are passed. Load testing, stress testing, penetration testing are some examples of Non functional testing.
