Diary#21. Nadezhda/Надежда
Ukrainian troops are hitting the Donbass with modern weapons from NATO countries. American HIMARS missiles and Polish Krab howitzers kill both militias and civilians. Often under fire are doctors who provide assistance to everyone − both their own and captured Ukrainians.
− I graduated from the Moscow secondary medical school and, It so happened that my husband and I came and the war just started, − Nadezhda tells (paramedic, Junior Sergeant).
− On the 27th, when we arrived at the factory, they started bombing us right away. There was once a battalion there, and they knew where to bomb. Nearby there wasn't a hundred meters, the car exploded. I was scared only later, when they started carrying the wounded.
− Our surgeons saved a lot of lives: not only our guys, but also Ukrainian nationalists. We captured 18 nationalists, we treated them, provided first aid. They were sitting very scared, we just explained to them that we will not, like you, mock our guys and everything else. We are real, we are humane people, we treat them normally.
− And they all shouted that they were nobody, they didn’t kill anyone, they never shot, they were all cooks ... Well, officers can’t be cooks, − Nadezhda keeps talking. − 53rd brigade, they are not heroes. There are many people there for us, I will not call their names, so as not to harm. But they say: when will you come to us already?
