Watercolour Painting Tutorial: Monstera Leaf [My Art Journey - Episode 13]
Hey guys, this is Kaz. Today, I’m going to be painting watercolor Monstera leaf.
Monstera Deliciosa is a species of plant that flowers and is native to tropical forest of southern Mexico, south to Panama.
Deliciosa means "delicious" which refers to the edible fruit, while Monstera means "monstrous," in reference to the size that this plant can grow to over 9 m or 30 ft in many cases.
By having holes in its leaves, the large Monstera leaves are able to withstand heavy rainfall and wind as they let the elements pass through the holes.
In the natural habitat, Monstera Deliciosa is a climber, using its aerial roots to cling to large trees. It can grow to a really big size.
One of Monstera’s appeal is its dark shiny leaves.
