Gigafactory Texas on 19 August 2022! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!
Happy Friday!
It was an overcast and light rain morning, but the winds were calm and lighting conditions perfect to look inside some sections of the main factory this morning! We see a lot of activity inside the Giga Press section of the factory, including the assembly and testing of the 4th 6,100-ton Giga Press, and we see re-work of two giga press foundations, possibly where the larger 9000-ton press (once it arrives) will be installed.
We also are able to look inside the 4680 production part of the northwest corner of the main building, and some peeks inside a few other areas on the north side.
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend!

Here are the highlights from today's video:
Inside the casting machine structure, we see four (4) casting machines assembled and either operational and/or in testing (#4). Near Giga Press #’s 1 and 2, we see two large foundations getting work to possibly prepare for the arrival of the larger 9,000-ton Giga Press soon. The work here suggests that some changes to the footprint of the larger press require a reconfiguration of the installed steel bases/frames on which the presses are installed. We also see the set-up of the DMG MORI CNC/milling machines on the north end.
On the north end, I was able to get some good views into the 2nd floor of the paint shop where a large door was open over the loading platform. This area was mostly open inside, so may be where more modular paint components will eventually be installed. Due to excellent lighting conditions, I was also able to see into the 3rd floor of the battery cell structure over the loading platform and see how some of this location is open all the way to the ground floor.
Since lighting was very favorable to looking inside, we are also able to see the 4680 production section on the northwest section of the main building, and it seems all of the production machinery was in operation with many employees at work as well. No doubt they are working to ramp up the production of the 4680’s and hopefully will be able to hit large scale volume production by the end of this year!
Progress at the battery cathode plant continues at a fast rate, and today, we see the first large section of the roof getting insulation and the light-weight concrete spray applied. Most of the utility trenches and installation on the west side are now completed, with one “manifold” area still under construction. Roof and floor decking for the 2nd and 3rd floors have now reached the north end, and preparation for ground slab construction on the south end continue. We also fly farther north to observe a large excavation underway, with trucks carrying dirt to the east side reconfiguration area.
At the north electrical substation construction area, we see work on the main site to prepare for installation of steel structures to house electrical components, while trenching to install corrugated storm water pipe is underway as well.
Model Y production rate continues to be healthy and increasing, with almost 200 cars in queue for transport on the south end, and many more in the temporary parking lot nearby.
More saw-cutting of new cargo loading bays on the west side of General Assembly. 8 new loading bays were cut in the past 48 hours and several more are being cut this morning.
The east small parking lot paving work appears to be completed and is located near the east secondary entrance. We also see some finishing work on the new car staging and transportation section of the southeast corner of the east parking lot.
East side material storage and trailer area reconfiguration work continues, with four large sections getting dirt fill and grade levelling this morning.
