Cheesecake's Rescue | FRIENDICOES SECA

Cheesecake is a 6-months-old pup who was picked up by our ambulance from the Netaji Nagar feeding route. He had a swollen leg, and he was limping and unable to put one leg down due to what was suspected to be a fracture but turned out to be actually an abscess. The abscess was full of pus that was causing him extreme pain. Left untreated, abscesses can be dangerous as the infection can spread to the surrounding tissues and cause serious complications and a whole lot of pain. Luckily for Cheesecake timely help means he is already on the rebound and will soon be ready to go back to his territory.
This little fellow is extremely playful and is thoroughly enjoying his stay with us.
We would love to keep him, like so many others, but it defeats the purpose of a shelter if it's filled up with healthy animals. The best we can do for him is to continue to ensure he lives a healthy and happy life on our feeding runs to his area.
Our Indies or Pariah dogs are sturdy, resilient animals and can live long, happy lives with a little kindness and care from our side. One full meal a day, regular vaccinations and timely medical care at times of illness or injuries is all they need. So please do not pick up puppies and young dogs unless absolutely necessary. If they need medical care try and make it quick and send them back to the streets before they lose their survival instincts and become dependent. There simply are not enough homes for all the homeless animals on the streets.
