Intrusion Detection System (IDS):
Intrusion Detection System (IDS): A security system that monitors network traffic or system activity for malicious activities or policy violations and generates alerts or takes actions to mitigate the detected threat.
Intrusion Prevention System (IPS): A security system that sits in-line on a network and monitors traffic for potential malicious activity, actively blocking or preventing those activities before they can reach their intended target.
Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack: A type of cyberattack where multiple compromised systems are used to flood a target system or network with traffic, overwhelming it and causing it to become unavailable to users.
Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP): A documented process or set of procedures that outline how an organization will respond to and recover from a disruptive event, such as a natural disaster, cyber attack, or other crisis.
RAID 5: A type of data storage technology that uses block-level striping with distributed parity to provide redundancy and data protection. It requires at least three disks and offers a balance of speed and data redundancy.
Incident Management Plan: A documented process or set of procedures that outline how an organization will respond to and manage a security incident or other disruptive event, including steps for identifying, containing, and recovering from the incident.
Hot Site: A type of disaster recovery site that is fully operational and ready to use, with redundant systems and near real-time data replication. It allows an organization to quickly switch operations to the backup site in the event of a disaster, often within an hour or less.
Memorandum of Understanding/Agreement (MOU/MOA): A legal document signed by two or more parties that outlines their mutual understanding of a particular agreement or obligation. In the context of disaster recovery, staff may sign an MOU/MOA to acknowledge their responsibilities during a crisis.
