Revolut Reaches 1 Million Customers in the Netherlands and Aims to Become Primary Banking Partner
EDFC, Amsterdam, February 20, 2025 – Revolut, the global financial app, continues its rapid growth in the Netherlands, reaching 1 million customers since its launch at the end of 2023. Revolut is the number one financial app in 2024, ahead of traditional banks and competitors like Wise.
Francesco Aghemio, Head of Belgium & Netherlands Branches at Revolut, joked at a recent event, "I believe Revolut does not need an introduction, so show me how many people have Revolut from here?" He also humorously mentioned sending an invite link for a referral bonus.
Globally, Revolut serves over 50 million customers, employs 10,000 people, and processes 500 million transactions. The company keeps expanding, focusing on offering localized products and services. In the Netherlands, localization includes local bank accounts, customer support, and partnerships with familiar platforms. Integrating with Tikkie was a key step, helping local customers transition more easily. Revolut has also partnered with KLM, allowing customers to convert RevPoints into miles.
Revolut is dedicated to becoming a one-stop shop for financial services. Dutch customers can now access flexible savings accounts, investments with over 300 equity and ETF options, and a robo-adviser for investment guidance. Junior customers benefit from savings solutions, while global features like hotel bookings, eSIM purchases, payroll solutions, and budgeting tools remain at the forefront.
Looking ahead, Revolut plans to strengthen its position in the Netherlands by making its products more tailored to local needs. The company has already seen a twofold increase in customers choosing to receive their salaries through Revolut. "We want to become the primary banking partner for our customers in the Netherlands," said Aghemio.
Revolut’s expansion strategy also includes opening local branches and adapting to country-specific regulations. With branches in Spain, France, the Netherlands, and new ones in countries such as Romania, along with acquiring a UK banking license, Revolut aims to provide accessible, localized, and comprehensive financial solutions to its growing customer base.
