There are many who wrongfully preach that this chapter is saying Paul feared being a "castaway" as in God might cast him away despite him preaching the gospel to many. But what does the term "not as one that beateth the air" mean and is Paul afraid he will not get "final salvation" when he says "I put my body under subjection, so that after I have preached to others, I myself become a castaway"? We will review the entire chapter and read it verse by verse so that those who trust in Christ alone will continue to stand strong and have an answer and understanding of the edifying words of apostle Paul and not destroy the confidence of some as many well meaning preachers do by falsely interpreting these verses.
